The 3 categories
Sustainability
The wine and spirits sector is one of the industries most exposed to the effects of climate change. Securing a sustainable future for the industry requires balancing economic resilience with environmental responsibility, while preserving the ecosystems on which viticulture and distillation depend.
The Sustainability V d’Or recognises an outstanding initiative, solution or long-term commitment that contributes to a more sustainable wine and spirits industry. The award is open to projects led by interprofessional organisations, collectives, companies, brands, wineries, distilleries or individuals whose actions demonstrate measurable environmental and/or social impact.
Education
As climate, cultural and economic shifts reshape wine and spirits, accessible and inspiring public education is essential. From responsible consumption to terroir, craftsmanship and sustainability, education deepens people’s connection to the drinks they enjoy.
The Education V d’Or rewards an outstanding initiative, programme or long-term commitment that advances public understanding of wine and spirits. Open to interprofessional bodies, companies, brands, wineries, distilleries, educational institutions and individuals, the award honours projects using innovative, inclusive or impactful methods with measurable reach and accessibility.
Innovation
The wine and spirits sector is undergoing a profound transformation. In this changing landscape, innovation is essential to sustaining growth, relevance and long‑term vitality.
The Innovation V d’Or rewards an outstanding initiative that reaches new audiences, unlocks new markets or reimagines how the sector communicates, engages or delivers value. This may take the form of a pioneering digital strategy, an inventive advertising campaign, a new event concept, a disruptive packaging idea or an entirely new product.
Testimonials from winners
"To summarise our project in one sentence: we are manufacturers of vineyard staples, and we want to create a more environmentally friendly alternative to those already on the market, whether made of plastic, metal or starch, which are commonly used by winegrowers. Our goal is to offer a more sustainable solution."
Justine Duval, Communications Manager, Agrafes Viti 4.0
Winner of Best Innovation - Wine V d'Or Awards 2026
"If I had to summarize our project in one sentence: the California Climate Action Toolkit is a practical resource that helps growers and vintners understand and prioritize climate risks, and find actionable ways to turn their commitments into real climate action. This award will have a very positive impact on the future of the project"
Allison Jordan, California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance
Winner of Best Sustainability Initiative – Wine V d'Or Awards 2026
"As for the impact of the award, first of all, the entire team at the distillery was incredibly proud. It’s a recognition of the work we do every single day. To be acknowledged internationally for our commitment to sustainability, alongside producers from around the world, is something very special."
Jean-Philippe Bouchard, Distillerie du Fjord
